UOWCHK aims to equip students of the College for joining society’s workforce and improve their employability upon graduation by providing them with comprehensive career-related learning opportunities and support training.

With the establishment of the Section, a series of career preparation training seminars, workshops, company visits, internship and job-shadowing programmes will be organized. Through these activities, participating students will be able to develop essential job application and interview skills. They will also acquire practical knowledge and realistic understanding of the employment market, reflect on their interest in the relevant industry and enhance their personal attributes like self-confidence, communication and self-presentation skills.

Summer Internship Subsidy

To encourage students’ participation in summer internships, the College offers a Summer Internship Subsidy (SIS) to students undertaking an unpaid internship who meet the requirements set out below, relieving the financial burden they may be facing and also as an appreciation of their effort and hard work.

A maximum of HK$3,000 will be granted to successful applicants. Interns who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply for the SIS.

Requirements

  • Interns should be full-time students enrolled in bachelor degree/associate degree/higher diploma programmes.
  • Interns should have completed an internship under “The Student Centre Summer Internship Programme” OR an internship that is endorsed by their respective Associate Dean/ Programme Leader.
  • The internship should last for at least a month.
  • Interns should NOT have received any salary/allowance/financial support in any form from the employer/hiring company.
  • Interns should have proven satisfactory work performance in the internship.

Students who are currently participated in/about to commence their internship in this summer are also eligible to apply for the SIS after they have completed their internship. Applications should reach the Student Centre on or before 13 September 2021. Late and incomplete applications will not be entertained. Interns of the Internship Programme will be responsible for (a) conducting researches and data analysis of various services provided by the Department; (b) liaising with different stakeholders to assist in project implementation and procurement procedures; (c) reviewing the publicity materials of the Department; and (d) preparing for logistic arrangements for meetings, training courses, duty visits, career talks and exhibitions etc.

The Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2021 of the Police Museum, Hong Kong Police College is open for applications. The interns will assist in a revitalization project of Police Museum.

The revitalization project of Police Museum aims at enhancing Police’s image and cultivating public confidence and trust, as well as turning it into a living centre of Police history and culture. The Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2021 of the Lantau District, Hong Kong Police Force is open for applications. The interns will (i) assist the Police and Community Relations Office (PCRO) in the implementation of summer programmes for the promotion of healthy lifestyles to the youth on Lantau Island; (ii) be deployed to organize various indoor and outdoor summer activities, including exploring the nature, knowing the local culture by visiting old villages in Lantau; and (iii) assist in manning of the JPC Clubhouse and organizing workshops or gatherings to enhance the communication among the JPC members in Lantau.

The Post-Secondary Student Summer Internship Programme 2021 of the Rating and Valuation Department (RVD) is open for applications. The summer interns of the RVD will assist in the design and scriptwriting work for the department’s training materials including improvement on the structure and presentation of the existing videos and e-learning courses, photo-taking, incorporating drawings, photographs and other insertions with a view to achieving better audio and visual appeal to users. Duties include contributions to new ideas and innovative multimedia solutions; production of e-learning packages, animated, audio and visual videos, interactive video games, animated PowerPoint presentation or any other non-printed means.

The Programme is launched with a view to helping young non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) accumulate work experience and enhancing their competiveness for employment. Selected students will be assigned to different Government bureaux and departments. As in previous years, the Environmental Protection Department will undertake a number of projects during summer. They would like to employ post-secondary students to assist in these projects. The internship will last for eight weeks in summer and successful applicants will receive two-day training on the Government’s plan and actions in sustainable development and environmental protection. Launched by Civil Service Bureau in 2016 with the dual aims of allowing students with disabilities to gain hands-on work experience in the Government, as well as enabling civil service colleagues to appreciate the talents and potential of persons with disabilities, the Scheme has been conducted with positive feedbacks in the previous years.

Interns of the Scheme will be posted to different Government bureaux and departments to provide support in a wide range of executive or administrative functions. About five days of training/briefing will be provided by the department offering the internship place and a mentor will be assigned to each intern to assist him/her in adapting to the working environment.

Entry Requirements:
To be qualified for nomination, the applicants should be-
i. permanent residents of the HKSAR at the time when the placement is offered to the intern; and
ii. non-final year student with disability studying a full-time bachelor degree or associate degree.

The Government is planning to launch a new round of recruitment exercises for the Administrative Officer (AO), Executive Officer II (EOII), Assistant Labour Officer II (ALOII), Assistant Trade Officer II (ATOII), Management Services Officer II (MSOII) and Transport Officer II (TOII) in September 2021. As part of the entry requirements for the posts, applicants would need to have obtained the following results in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) –
a.    Level 2 in both language papers (i.e. Use of Chinese and Use of English), or equivalent results;
b.    a Pass result in the Aptitude Test; and
c.    a Pass result in the Basic Law Test (BLT).

All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their Basic Law knowledge. For all civil service recruitment exercises advertised on or after 6 August 2021, a pass result in the BLT is an entry requirement for civil service jobs requiring degree/professional qualifications. Only those candidates who have passed the BLT will be considered for appointment. Attaining a score at or above 53 out of the full mark of 100 (i.e. getting at least 8 out of 15 questions correct) will be deemed to have a pass result in BLT. The BLT result will also constitute an appropriate weighting in a candidate’s overall assessment. Further details about the BLT can be found on the website of Civil Service Bureau.

For candidates who have not taken the BLT or have not attained a pass result in the BLT at the time of application, they may still apply for the posts and arrangements will be made for them to take the BLT during the recruitment process. Responsibilities:

Future International Talent (FIT) programme is launched by the CEDB in collaboration with 12 international chambers of commerce in Hong Kong. It provides 12-month job placements to fresh and recent graduates at companies across different industries, offering over 200 positions. These positions offer exposure to international business operations in Hong Kong, in functions such as marketing, sales, accounting, design, production, IT, human resources, quality assurance, client/ project management and more. Job seekers who are Hong Kong residents with no more than five years of work experience are eligible to apply.

Eligibility criteria of FIT candidate:
- be a HKSAR resident over 18 years old holding a valid Hong Kong Identity Card;
- be a fresh graduate in 2020 or 2021, or has no more than five years of work experience;
- be or will soon be a holder of accredited certificates, diplomas, degrees obtained in programmes of post-secondary and tertiary institutes, or have relevant work experience; and

FIT is a job creation scheme funded by the Anti-Epidemic Fund. It has been an established practice in Hong Kong to conduct a population census every ten years and a population by-census in the middle of the intercensal period. The aim is to provide up-to-date benchmark statistics on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and on its geographical distribution.

 

In view of the scale and complexity of the 2021 Population Census (21C), it is of paramount importance to test the various facets before implementation. A Pilot Survey for the 21C is therefore scheduled from June to August of 2020. The 21C is a huge project and students will certainly benefit from taking part in it.

 

Census and Statistics Department is now recruiting 190 Temporary Field Workers (TFWs) comprising two positions. They are employed to support the data collection work, to conduct face-to-face and telephone interviews, to handle enquiries from respondents and to follow up on self-enumerated cases in the field centres or Census Service Centre.

C1379 Census and Statistics Department: Recruitment of Temporary Field Workers for the 2021 Population Census (政府統計處: 2021年人口普查臨時外勤工作人員招聘)

The Census and Statistics Department are looking for Temporary Field Workers (TFWs) to play a part in the 2021 Population Census (21C). Teachers, teaching assistants and post-secondary students are welcome to join them. No work experience required!

How to Apply
Submit your application via the “Online Job Application System for the 21C”(https://www.census2021.gov.hk/en/recruitment.html) between 16 November 2020 and 31 December 2020. Late submission will not be entertained.
