UOW College Hong Kong (“UOWCHK”), formerly Community College of City University (“CCCU”), is an Approved Post Secondary College in Hong Kong registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320).  The College is widely acknowledged as one of the leading institutions of its kind in Hong Kong, providing quality tertiary education for about 3,500 students.  UOWCHK is part of the University of Wollongong (UOW) global network in Dubai, Malaysia and Australia.  We offer a wide range of Degree, Associate Degree(AD) and Higher Diploma(HD) programmes, a Diploma in General Studies (DipGS), and International Language Proficiency Tests with preparatory courses.  In addition, the College offers top-up degrees awarded directly by UOW for associate degree/higher diploma graduates.  All academic programmes of the College are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), and quality-assured and recognized under the Qualifications Framework.

Global Recruitment Manager – Greater China [Ref. 2021/NACAD007]

Job Specification

Reporting to the Global Regional Recruitment and Marketing Director, this position is responsible for recruiting international students from Greater China markets to the University of Wollongong (UOW) and UOW College Australia. He/She is also responsible for developing and implementing strategic student recruitment plans, coordinating recruitment activities for the designated source markets across UOW as well as working closely with the admissions and compliance teams to inform and monitor country specific processes or policies. Acting as a market expert, he/she is expected to provide high quality advice to internal stakeholders regarding recruitment from the designated markets.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should meet the following requirements: 

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in related disciplines or equivalent experience and professional development;
  • Relevant experience in student recruitment within tertiary education environment;
  • Demonstrated understanding and track record in International Student Recruitment relationship management;
  • Profound understanding of education systems in China;
  • Providing quality account management to a network of agents;
  • Excellent presentation, written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong networking, excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills;
  • Effective time management skills with the demonstrated ability to work well under pressure within a team;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua); and
  • Prior experience in Australian tertiary education system is a plus.

Temporary Research Assistants [Ref. 2021NACAD001]

Duties

The College has been awarded 2- years’ research funding in 2020/21 Competitive Research Funding Scheme for the Local Self-financing Degree Sector. Positions for two Research Assistants are now open to assist our principal investigator in conducting the research.

The appointee is expected to assist in academic research, perform research work in archives, through interviews or online, gather and analyze data, and perform other duties as assigned by the supervising instructor. 

Requirements
The appointee is expected to have the following qualifications and working experience:

  • At least a master’s degree in language and law or computer or information technology, preferably in machine translation (MT) or a closely related field of natural language processing (NLP);
  • practical experience and programming skills to work on state-of-the-art neural machine translation (NMT) models;
  • capable of building online interactive interface; and
  • able to handle Chinese-English bilingual legal texts for training and testing NMT system.

Clerical Officer, Faculty of Science and Technology

Duties

The appointee is expected to provide clerical support to academic programmes, course administration, assist in organizing student activities, seminars, and Faculty activities, handle student enquiries, and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007).

A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua), proficient in PC and software applications including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing. Applicants with knowledge in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop will be an advantage. They should be a self-starter and positive attitude, enthusiastic about working with students, attentive to details, able to perform multi-tasks, work independently and under pressure, good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, possess a can-do attitude and be a congenial team player. The appointee will be responsible for (a) undertaking a full spectrum of human resources activities; (b) managing the operation of the General Office and supervising supporting staff; (c) providing administrative support to committees; and (d) performing other duties as assigned. 

Requirements
Applicants must have a good honours degree with 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in computer applications, good interpersonal and organization skills, strong initiative are required.
