UOW College Hong Kong, formerly Community College of City University (“CCCU”), is registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320) in Hong Kong.  We are part of the University of Wollongong (UOW) global network in Dubai, Malaysia and Australia with about 2,000 students.  We offer a wide range of Degree, Top-up Degree, Associate Degree(AD) and Higher Diploma(HD) programmes, and a Diploma in General Studies (DipGS).  All academic programmes of the College are locally accredited, quality-assured, and recognized under the Qualifications Framework.

Duties
The appointee will be responsible for (a) managing the operation of the General Office and supervising supporting staff; (b) performing various administrative functions; (c) assisting in programme admission and registration; (d) and performing other duties as assigned.  

Requirements
Applicants must have a good honours degree in 3 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in computer applications, good interpersonal and organization skills, strong initiative are required. The appointee should be well-organized, flexible, adaptable and able to work independently.

Faculty of Science and Technology

The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) offers nine associate degree programmes, four higher diploma programmes, two Cap320 Bachelor degree programme and one top-up degree programme. The programme areas cover aviation and aviation logistics, artificial intelligence, computer science, information technology, data science, environmental science, STEM and creative media. These programmes are delivered by a dynamic and growing team of faculty members and Professors of Practice. Supported by up-to-date facilities such as state-of-the-art computer laboratories, network and multimedia laboratories and flight simulation facilities, the Faculty aims to develop future – ready graduates to meet the ever-changing science and technology working environment. 

Job Specification

The Assistant Professor / Teaching Associate has the following specific responsibilities:

  • Deliver courses related to Electronic Engineering and Computer Networking;
  • Handle programme administration and course development;
  • Assist in developing of programmes at different levels;
  • Undertake course coordination and student supervisions;
  • Take up administrative works at the Faculty and College level;
  • Develop and coordinate extra-curricular activities for students;
  • Engage in scholarly activities and academic research. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A doctoral / master degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering or other related disciplines;
  • A minimum of three years’ teaching experience in tertiary education and/or relevant industry experience;
  • Relevant professional qualification(s) as well as research experience preferably with a record of publications;
  • Good networking and communication skills in liaising with professional bodies and the external community;
  • Applicants with less work experience will be considered for the post of Teaching Associate. 

Candidates with knowledge of curriculum development, syllabus design, and assessing learning outcomes are preferred.

Duties
The appointee is expected to assist the Librarian/Assistant Librarian to provide a wide range of library services, including counter duties, shelving and shelf-reading, ordering and cataloging of new library materials, and to perform any other duties as assigned. Shift duties and irregular working hours are required.   

Requirements

Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007). 

Applicants should possess good communication and interpersonal skills, a customer-service oriented attitude, and a strong sense of responsibility. Possession of a Diploma/Higher Diploma in library science and working experience in library setting, ideally related to cataloging, would be an advantage.

Duties

  • To take charge of the library and formulate library policies
  • To provide library acquisition and cataloguing services
  • To work with overseas partners to develop the electronic reference collection
  • To plan and deliver orientation sessions, workshops and instructional programmes in library services
  • To tabulate and evaluate statistics on usage of library services
  • To undertake other ad-hoc tasks as assigned by senior management 

Requirements

  • a recognized degree, preferably in Librarianship or related field, or equivalent, with appropriate post-qualification experience in academic libraries and cataloguing. Candidates with less experience will be considered for appointment as Assistant Librarian.
  • membership of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (MCLIP), or possession of a certificate in Librarianship or post-graduate diploma in Librarianship will be an advantage.
  • good interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • ability to work independently and with initiatives
  • good abilities in project management and planning, with a high level of motivation, team spirit and leadership.
