General information

UOW College Hong Kong (“UOWCHK”), formerly Community College of City University (“CCCU”), is an Approved Post Secondary College in Hong Kong registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320).  The College is widely acknowledged as one of the leading institutions of its kind in Hong Kong, providing quality tertiary education for about 3,500 students.  UOWCHK is part of the University of Wollongong (UOW) global network in Dubai, Malaysia and Australia.  We offer a wide range of Degree, Associate Degree(AD) and Higher Diploma(HD) programmes, a Diploma in General Studies (DipGS), and International Language Proficiency Tests with preparatory courses.  In addition, the College offers top-up degrees awarded directly by UOW for associate degree/higher diploma graduates.  All academic programmes of the College are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), and quality-assured and recognized under the Qualifications Framework.

Current openings

Temporary Research Assistant in Faculty of Art and Humanities
[Ref. 2021NACAD016]

Duties

The College has been awarded research funding in 2021/22 Research and Development Projects of the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR). Position for Research Assistant is now open to assist our principal investigator in conducting the research.

The appointee will be responsible for research project coordination works, including assisting in the design and preparing of the research questionnaire; collecting data obtained from experimental teaching; collecting and comparing of existing available Putonghua teaching materials; collecting and sorting literature related to the project; liaising with participating schools; coordinating work for student helpers; arranging interviews and conducting class observations at schools. 

Requirements
The appointee is expected to have the following qualifications and working experience:

  • a good honors degree in linguistics or a related discipline;
  • excellent in both written and spoken Cantonese, English and Putonghua;
  • possess good command in SPSS; and
  • have at least 1 year of experience as research assistant 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on fixed-term contract for one year commencing November 2021, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and mutual agreement.
