Part-time Instructors in Mathematics

Faculty of Arts and Humanities [Ref.2024/ACAD014]

 

Duties

The appointee is expected to deliver Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) course at QF Level 3. This includes: 1) conducting small remedial classes in Mathematics on weekday evenings and/or Saturdays, with classes offered in face-to-face, online or hybrid formats; and 2) performing duties assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • Have a good pass (at least level 4) in DSE Mathematics;
  • Hold a good honours bachelor’s degree or above in a relevant field is an advantage;
  • Possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) in Mathematics issued by a local university / college is an advantage;
  • Demonstrate relevant IT skills, such as proficiency in GeoGebra is an advantage and
  • Priority will be given to applicants with one year of teaching experience

Salary and Conditions of Service

Part-time Lecturers in Physical Fitness and Exercises Science /Sports Nutrition and Exercises Planning

Requirements

All applicants must hold a degree or master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience, along with relevant working experience in one of the following fields:

  • Physical Fitness and Exercises Science - fundamental knowledge required for the practical application of exercise.
  • Sports Nutrition and Exercises Planning - nutritional needs of athletes and those undertaking substantial exercise programmes, exploring the importance of nutrition in achieving optimal health.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.  For specialized professional courses that necessitate specific instructor qualifications, the hourly rate may be subject to negotiation.

ERB Instructors

Duties

The appointee is expected to deliver various ERB courses at Levels 3 and 4, primarily focused on skill uplifting. This includes preparing course materials, conducting assessments, and providing constructive feedback to students to enhance their learning experience.

Requirements

All applicants must hold a Degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience, along with relevant working experience in one of the following fields:

  • Project Management: Candidates should have a robust background in managing projects, with a preference for those holding certifications in Agile methodologies or CAPM. A minimum of five years of experience in leading teams, executing projects on time and within budget, and a proven track record of achieving project objectives is essential.
  • Online Business and Marketing: Applicants should demonstrate a strong foundation in digital marketing strategies, with at least three years of experience in online business development and collaboration with key opinion leaders in marketing. Experience in developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Financial Services: Instructors should possess significant experience in financial planning and analysis, specifically with a focus on preparation for AFP® certification. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant industry experience, including roles in financial consulting or investment management.
  • Blockchain Development: Candidates must have hands-on experience in blockchain applications, including the development and implementation of blockchain solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in this field, along with a strong understanding of smart contracts and decentralized applications, is required.
  • Data Analysis: Applicants should have practical experience in data analytics, including proficiency in analytical tools and techniques that drive business insights. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in data analysis roles, preferably in a business or technology context.
  • Cloud Computing: Candidates should have substantial experience in cloud technologies, including deployment and management of cloud-based solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in cloud architecture or administration is required.
  • Mobile Application Development: Instructors should have a background in developing Android applications, with experience in both foundational and advanced programming techniques. Candidates should have at least three years of relevant development experience, including familiarity with app deployment and user experience design.
  • Professional English Training: Candidates must have experience in teaching business English, including writing, listening, and speaking skills tailored for professional environments. A minimum of three years of teaching experience in an adult education or corporate training setting is essential.
  • Putonghua Language Training: Instructors should have experience in teaching Putonghua, particularly in business communication contexts. Candidates should have at least three years of teaching experience, with a focus on practical language use in professional settings.
  • Arboriculture : Candidates must be ISA Certified Arborists with a minimum of two years of experience in the field.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary is based on an hourly rate ranging from $450 to $650, depending on the level of the course, number of participants and the qualifications of the instructor. For specialized professional courses that have specific instructor requirements, such as project management, the hourly rate may reach up to $1,000, subject to the instructor's expertise and the course's complexity.

Executive Officers

Duties
The appointee will be responsible for (a) managing the operation of the General Office and supervising supporting staff; (b) performing various administrative functions; (c) assisting in programme admission and registration; and (d) performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must have a good honours degree and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in computer applications, good interpersonal and organization skills, and strong initiative are required. The appointee should be well-organized, flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test. 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.

Clerical Officers

Duties
The appointee is expected to provide clerical support to the Faculty Office, perform tasks independently, handle general enquiries and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007) and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong initiative, self-motivated, detail-minded, and high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent command in MS Excel and strong attention to details with good organizational skills are expected. Good understanding of computer applications including MS Word, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing is desirable.
