Part-time Lecturer - Diploma of Applied Education [Ref.2024/ACAD010] 

Duties

The appointee is expected to 1) prepare teaching materials of a DAE programme specialized in Police Recruitment Training with the assistance of supervisor; 2) deliver teaching duties and mark assignments ; and 3) perform any duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

Applicants should meet one of the following qualifications:

  1. Educational Background:
    • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as criminology, police or legal studies, sociology, psychology, management, or education, OR
    • A Higher Diploma in a relevant field, such as criminology, police or legal studies, sociology, psychology, management, or education, OR
    • More than 15 years of experience in the Police Force, which can substitute the education requirement.

Additionally, candidates must have:

  • Extensive experience (no less than 5 years) in the Police Force, preferably with a focus on community engagement, youth outreach, or training and development.
  • Demonstrated competence in teaching, which could be evidenced through previous teaching experience, training delivery within the Police Force, or relevant professional development in education.
  • Experience in teaching youths is considered an advantage.

Part-time Lecturer in English [Ref.2024/ACAD009] 

Employees Retraining Board (ERB) English Language Courses

The College is now recruiting part-time teachers for teaching some ERB English Language courses for 2024-2025 (Sem A, Sem B), including e.g. listening, speaking, writing, reading, E-mail writing, customer interaction skills etc. Each course is around 30 hours to 60 hours.

Duties

The appointee is expected to 1) deliver teaching duties; 2) prepare course materials and assessments and 3) mark student assessments and coordinate with Faculty Staff Representative regarding ERB matters, e.g. moderation

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

  • (a) Holding a relevant degree (e.g. English Language / English Literature/ Linguistics/ English Language Education/ English Communication / Translation or equivalent, etc.), OR
  • (b) Holding a Bachelor Degree in any discipline AND Holding a teaching qualification in English (e.g. PGDE in English, or TEFL or TESL), or Attainment in the Language Proficiency Assessment for Teachers (English Language); or equivalent;  AND
  • (c) A minimum of three years’ teaching experience in relevant disciplines

The candidates should be able to speak in Cantonese, as most of the ERB English courses will be facilitated by Cantonese, with materials in English.

Executive Officers [Ref. 2024NACAD016]

Duties
The appointee will be responsible for (a) managing the operation of the General Office and supervising supporting staff; (b) performing various administrative functions; (c) assisting in programme admission and registration; and (d) performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must have a good honours degree and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in computer applications, good interpersonal and organization skills, and strong initiative are required. The appointee should be well-organized, flexible, adaptable, and able to work independently.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a written test.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.

Clerical Officers [Ref. 2024NACAD015]

Duties
The appointee is expected to provide clerical support to the Faculty Office, perform tasks independently, handle general enquiries and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007) and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong initiative, self-motivated, detail-minded, and high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent command in MS Excel and strong attention to details with good organizational skills are expected. Good understanding of computer applications including MS Word, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing is desirable.
