Part-time Teaching Assistants (ApL Drone Training), Faculty of Science and Technology [Ref. 2026/ACAD038]

Faculty of Science and Technology

The Faculty of Science and Technology at UOW College Hong Kong is committed to providing students with innovative and industry-relevant learning experiences. Through its Applied Learning (ApL) courses, the Faculty works closely with secondary schools and industry partners to deliver authentic learning opportunities that prepare students for further studies and future careers.

The Faculty is currently offering ApL programmes in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Low-altitude Economy (LAE), integrating practical drone operation skills, aviation knowledge, emerging technologies and real-world applications. To support programme delivery, applications are invited for the position of Part-time Teaching Assistants.

Duties

Appointees are expected to undertake the following tasks:

Assist lecturers in delivering practical drone training sessions and related learning activities for secondary school students;
Support the setup, operation, maintenance and storage of UAV equipment and training materials;
Assist students during hands-on drone operation, simulation exercises and field activities;
Conduct pre-flight inspections and support flight safety monitoring during practical sessions;
Maintain attendance records, equipment inventories and programme documentation;
Provide logistical and administrative support during classes and events conducted at partner secondary schools; and
Travel to different secondary school venues across Hong Kong as required.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

A Higher Diploma, Associate Degree, Bachelor’s degree or above in Aviation, Engineering, Information Technology, STEM-related disciplines or a related field;
Knowledge of UAV operations, Drone Technology, Aviation, Engineering or related disciplines;
Good communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work effectively with secondary school students;
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a teaching team; and
Willingness to travel to secondary schools in different districts of Hong Kong.

Preference will be given to applicants who possess:

Relevant drone qualifications or certifications recognised in Hong Kong;
Experience in UAV operations, Drone Training, Aviation, STEM or related areas; and
Experience working with secondary school students.

Salary and Conditions of Service

The salary is based on an hourly rate of HK$200. Appointments will be made on an hourly-paid basis according to operational needs. Teaching activities will primarily be conducted at secondary schools across Hong Kong on weekdays and occasional Saturdays.

Counsellor (Fractional)

UOW College Hong Kong (“UOWCHK”) is an approved post-secondary college registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap 320). Being part of the University of Wollongong (UOW) in Australia, our students’ learning experiences are enriched through visits by UOW academics or exchange programmes with UOW and its network universities in Malaysia, Dubai and India.

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

Provide individual and group counselling services to students;
Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) by assessing their needs and coordinating appropriate support services to facilitate their learning and development;
Work with academic and administrative units to identify and support students experiencing academic, personal, emotional, or behavioural difficulties;
Collaborate with Faculties in the planning and implementation of student development and wellbeing programmes that support students’ adjustment to College life and preparation for further study and employment;
Assist in handling student crisis cases and support the co-ordination of appropriate interventions and follow-up actions with academic staff, families, and external service providers;
Contribute to the planning, implementation, and evaluation of student support initiatives and new projects;
Maintain appropriate records and prepare reports related to counselling and student support services; and
Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

a Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counselling, Psychology, or a related discipline;
at least three years of post-qualification experience in personal, career, or student counselling for young people, preferably gained in a tertiary or educational setting;
sound knowledge of student development, mental health, and wellbeing issues affecting young adults;
good digital literacy, including proficiency in AI-enabled tools and standard computer applications;
experience in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), learning difficulties, or mental health concerns, which will be an advantage;
strong organisational and case management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment; and
the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with academic and administrative teams.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be appointed on a fractional basis of three days per week under an initial six-month contract. Subject to operational requirements and satisfactory performance, it is anticipated that the appointment may be extended beyond the initial contract period.

The appointee will assist in a research project examining the prosody of the Book of Odes (Shijing) and will be responsible for:

Assisting in data entry and proofreading;
Conducting library and archival searches, and obtaining relevant scholarly resources;
Analysing Shijing poems;
Deriving Old Chinese pronunciations;
Compiling research databases; and
Performing other duties as assigned by the project coordinator.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

A Master’s degree in Chinese Language, Literature or a related discipline;
Prior academic training in Shijing studies, preferably through a dedicated course; and
Familiarity with Old Chinese reconstructions.

Duties

The appointee will provide clerical and front-line counter services in the General Office, assist with handling enquiries from students, staff and the public, perform assigned tasks independently, undertake Saturday duties, and carry out any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007) and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience. Fresh graduates and recent graduates holding an Associate Degree or Higher Diploma will also be considered.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong initiative, self-motivated, detail-minded, and high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent command in MS Excel and strong attention to details with good organizational skills are expected. Good understanding of computer applications including MS Word, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing is desirable.

Part-time Lecturer, DAE (Clerical Work in Practice in Government), Faculty of Arts and Humanities [Ref. 2026/ACAD034]

Faculty of Arts and Humanities

We are currently recruiting a part-time lecturer to support teaching in Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) in Clerical Work in Practice in Government for a duration of 6 months starting 1 January 2027.

Duties

The appointee will be required to deliver a full-time, face-to-face Diploma of Applied Education course. He/she will be mainly responsible for the followings:

Conducting tutorials related to the recruitment of Clerical Grade in the Government,
Developing course materials;
Marking assignments and assessment scripts; and
Performing other related teaching and administrative duties.

Requirements

Applicants should meet the following requirements:

a degree in any disciplines;
well versed in the Clerical Grade in the Government;
at least two years of relevant work experience in related field. Retired officers in government with prior teaching experience are preferred.

ERB Instructors

Duties

The appointee is expected to deliver various ERB courses at Levels 3 and 4, primarily focused on skill uplifting. This includes preparing course materials, conducting assessments, and providing constructive feedback to students to enhance their learning experience.

Requirements

All applicants must hold a Degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience, along with relevant working experience in one of the following fields:

Project Management: Candidates should have a robust background in managing projects, with a preference for those holding certifications in Agile methodologies or CAPM. A minimum of five years of experience in leading teams, executing projects on time and within budget, and a proven track record of achieving project objectives is essential.
Online Business and Marketing: Applicants should demonstrate a strong foundation in digital marketing strategies, with at least three years of experience in online business development and collaboration with key opinion leaders in marketing. Experience in developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns is highly desirable.
Financial Services: Instructors should possess significant experience in financial planning and analysis, specifically with a focus on preparation for AFP® certification. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant industry experience, including roles in financial consulting or investment management.
Blockchain Development: Candidates must have hands-on experience in blockchain applications, including the development and implementation of blockchain solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in this field, along with a strong understanding of smart contracts and decentralized applications, is required.
Data Analysis: Applicants should have practical experience in data analytics, including proficiency in analytical tools and techniques that drive business insights. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in data analysis roles, preferably in a business or technology context.
Cloud Computing: Candidates should have substantial experience in cloud technologies, including deployment and management of cloud-based solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in cloud architecture or administration is required.
Mobile Application Development: Instructors should have a background in developing Android applications, with experience in both foundational and advanced programming techniques. Candidates should have at least three years of relevant development experience, including familiarity with app deployment and user experience design.
Professional English Training: Candidates must have experience in teaching business English, including writing, listening, and speaking skills tailored for professional environments. A minimum of three years of teaching experience in an adult education or corporate training setting is essential.
Putonghua Language Training: Instructors should have experience in teaching Putonghua, particularly in business communication contexts. Candidates should have at least three years of teaching experience, with a focus on practical language use in professional settings.
Arabic Language Training: Instructors will be responsible for teaching both fundamental and service-related language short courses, each comprising 30 contact hours. Applicants must hold a recognised university degree in Languages, Arts, Translation, English, or a closely related discipline, together with demonstrable experience in teaching the Arabic language.
Russian Language Training: Instructors will be responsible for teaching both fundamental and service-related language short courses, each comprising 30 contact hours. Applicants must hold a recognised university degree in Language, Arts, Translation, English, or a closely related discipline, together with demonstrable experience in teaching the Russian language.
Arboriculture : Candidates must be ISA Certified Arborists with a minimum of two years of experience in the field.
Risk Management (AI Applications): Instructors will be responsible for delivering the "Certificate in Risk Management and Decision-Making (AI Applications)" course, which comprises 30 hours of instruction. Applicants must hold a recognised university degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Candidates should also possess a PMI® certification (PMI-PMP® or PMI-RMP®) and have a minimum of five years of professional experience in project risk management. This must include practical, hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence to risk management contexts.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary is based on an hourly rate ranging from $450 to $650, depending on the level of the course, number of participants and the qualifications of the instructor. For specialized professional courses that have specific instructor requirements, such as project management, the hourly rate may reach up to $1,000, subject to the instructor's expertise and the course's complexity.
