A graduate from UOW College Hong Kong’s (UOWCHK) Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) was recently among recipients of the Sir Robert Black Trust Fund Award. Ms LIANG Jianling, DAE graduate from 2025, was presented with the award at a ceremony on 19 January 2026. The $5,000 award is given to DAE graduates with outstanding all-round performance during their studies.
“We are glad that Ms Liang is recognized for her hard work. Being a mature student, she always helps with providing guidance to other students. She is very attentive in class and work strenuously to make improvements,” said Dr. Louisa Yuen, DAE Programme Leader. Following the completion of her DAE programme at UOWCHK with the elective cluster of Japanese Language and Culture, Ms Liang has furthered her studies and is now studying for the Higher Diploma in Cloud and Data Centre Administration at Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology under IVE. More than 70% of DAE graduates from UOWCHK have gone on to further studies.
“During my learning journey in DAE at UOW College Hong Kong, I progressed from knowing nothing about Japanese kana to mastering basic Japanese skills. This was made possible not only by the patient guidance of teachers but also by mutual encouragement from classmates, which gave me the confidence to persist in learning,” said Ms Liang.
