Upon receiving the Land Grant from Education Bureau (EDB) in September 2016, construction has commenced to prepare for the future campus of the College. The campus, occupying a gross floor area of about 15,000 sqm, consists of three floors with a healthy mix of classrooms, lecture theatres and office space. It has an accommodation capacity for about 3,300 students.
The structure of the Tai Wai campus is close to completion and building services installations have commenced. Work on the internal occupancy permit (OP) work has commenced which includes the installation of lifts, escalators, electrical and mechanical mains infrastructure to support the fit-out. The handover date of the premises is scheduled in August 2022 with an expected “go-live” date of August 2023 for the new campus.
On 8 July 2021, it was reported in the latest news that two of the residential blocks situated atop the new Campus had failed to meet the concrete strength requirements of the approved design. The developer, New World Development Ltd., has decided to demolish and rebuild the two blocks. The College has been informed by Senior Project Director of MTRCL, the joint developer of the project, that the issue will not technically impact on the OP Works, or OP Handover of the new campus. The actual impact of this incident on the College campus availability date is still subject to further investigation. The College will maintain close contact with EDB and MTRCL to obtain the latest information about the situation.
Nevertheless, in the event of a delay to the new campus handover schedule, the College can still maintain its current operations and deliver its teaching to students at high quality at its current Telford campus and the newly opened Kowloon City campus. The Kowloon City campus is composed of two premises located adjacent to each other in Kowloon City, respectively, the Billionnaire Royale at 83 Sa Po Road and Le Billionnaire at 46 Sa Po Road. With over 87,000 sqft of space, it comprises a suite of lecture theatres, classrooms and computer laboratories, a library and student resource centres, providing a brand new learning experience to our students.
