Distinguished Professor Gordon Wallace, AO from the University of Wollongong paid a short visit to UOW College Hong Kong (UOWCHK) and met with senior management, members of the College Research Committee and other staff on 4 March 2026. He was toured around the Tai Wai campus of UOW College Hong Kong and was most impressed with the facilities. Professor Wallace, who serves on the advisory board for research institutes and centres of excellence in Australia, Ireland, Spain and Finland and is a world-renowned scholar in bioengineering, shared insights into how cutting-edge scientific discoveries move “from lab bench to bedside” in modern biomedical innovation. His talk explored the complex journey of “Discovery to Deployment” in bioengineering, showing how scientific breakthroughs become real medical solutions through interdisciplinary teamwork. For UOWCHK, the visit offered an inspiring reminder that impactful research often grows out of collaboration, interdisciplinary thinking, and a shared sense of purpose. The idea is that even within a teaching-intensive environment, meaningful research can flourish when colleagues connect their strengths and pursue common questions together.
