Consul General of Colombia in Hong Kong, Mr. Luis F. Orozco, paid a short visit to UOW College Hong Kong at the end of April 2026. Receiving Mr Orozco was Dr. Charlie Choi, Vice President; and Dr. Andy Tsui, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
Mr Orozco suggested that the College should actively promote studying in Hong Kong, highlighting the College’s unique features including the fact that study programmes are taught in English. Mr. Orozco noted that following the signing of the Belt and Road Agreement with China last year, many young people in Colombia have expressed a strong interest in studying in China, of which Hong Kong is a part. He added that various scholarships are available to support their studies. Mr. Orozco noted that the College’s top-up programmes offered in partnership with UOW, and its two distinctive programmes in aviation and maritime studies all use English as the teaching medium.
Mr. Orozco was toured around the campus, accompanied by UOWCHK’s Ms Maria Jose Pareja and Mr Derrick Stone, who introduced some of the paintings exhibited at UOWCHK campus. “Through Mr Orozco’s visit, the College is encouraged to explore furthering relations with Colombia for students’ mobility,” said Dr Choi.
