Senior staff members of UOW College Hong Kong (UOWCHK) took part in the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Summit and Dinner as the College became one of the supporting organizations among higher education organizations in Hong Kong for the event.
The Summit on Cultural Heritage, part of a series of “ICH June” activities which focused on a theme of “Cross-border co-existence of intangible cultural heritage and creation”, was held on 13 June 2026 at the Hong Kong Palace Museum, where scholars and ICH experts from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao gathered to discuss the transmission and development of ICH. The one-day Summit kicked off with opening remarks from the Chairperson of the ICH June and Legislative Council Member Professor Lau Chi-pang, a prominent Hong Kong historian, educator, and lawmaker.
Organized by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office under the Leisure and Cultural Service Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the major event was supported by the Huaxia Foundation and the Beijing-Hong Kong Academic Exchange Centre. The Summit dinner’s menu was specially selected to present traditional Chinese culinary skills and ICH-related food themes.
Participating in the event and representing UOWCHK were Dr Andy Tsui Man-hon, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities; Secretary for Finance & Operations Ms Yiu-bing Chan; Assistant Professor Dr Mandy Chan Sze-man; and Lecturer Ms June Wong Wai-han. “As a higher education institution offering programmes in Chinese culture, UOWCHK remains committed to supporting initiatives related to ICH. We look forward to further collaboration with the Intangible Cultural Heritage Office and other partner institutions to promote ICH through academic exchange, research, and educational activities in the future” said Dr Andy Tsui.
