Staff of UOW College Hong Kong gained further insights into how artificial intelligence could help their daily work as they attended an in-house training session on Microsoft Copilot on 22 May 2026. In the course of two hours, the session focused on practical, everyday AI applications to enhance productivity across teaching, research, and administrative roles.
Mr Tony Lam, IT Manager, first demonstrated Copilot’s deep integration into Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook, and further showcased Copilot Studio for intelligent email retrieval and workflow automation. Professor KK Sin of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities then provided a comparative analysis of various AI tools for research activities, with particular emphasis on their accuracy and literature search capabilities. Vice-President Dr Charlie Choi delivered hands-on demonstrations on building custom Q&A agents for PowerPoint generation, course and programme review, and assignment marking. He also illustrated dashboard functions in Excel for raw data analysis and showcased how Notebook can facilitate course-level and programme-level assignment and quiz generation alongside course review.
The session was well attended by about 25 staff who found the workshop thoroughly enriching and rewarding, engaging the speakers with numerous thoughtful questions throughout the session. The event reaffirmed the College’s commitment to empowering staff with cutting-edge technology, enabling them to work smarter, foster innovation, and co-create the future of learning and work.
