A 2026 graduate of the Bachelor of Maritime Services and Operations Management (Honours) (BMSOM) at UOW College Hong Kong has happily started to apply knowledge learnt from studies on practical matters on the job. Ms LAM Sze-ching Cora joined OOCL as a Senior Officer soon after completing her studies and is now involved in reviewing and updating policies, guidelines, and procedures related to Demurrage and Detention (D&D) management, monitoring the performance of D&D systems, and adjusting global tariff rates to support operational efficiency and market competitiveness.
The BMSOM programme gave Cora the foundation she needed in shipping intermodalism, shipping law, and maritime operations. Beyond classroom learning, industry visits such as a pilot boat tour offered valuable insight into real-world shipping operations. “These experiences helped me connect theory with practice and deepened my understanding of the maritime industry. The knowledge and practical exposure gained through the programme have been instrumental in shaping my career and supporting my professional growth in the global shipping sector,” said Cora.
