Faculty of Social Sciences

The Faculty of Social Sciences nurtures graduates with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, cultural sensitivity, a global outlook, and a commitment to lifelong learning. The Faculty offers a range of programmes from diploma to undergraduate level to prepare students for further study and professional practice. 

Duties

Apart from teaching, the appointee will serve as Acting Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, providing academic leadership in programme management and development across QF levels. Other key duties include strategic planning, curriculum oversight, accreditation, quality assurance and regulatory compliance, student recruitment, staff management, resource and budget oversight, collaboration with the University of Wollongong and external partners; stakeholder engagement, and research and grant activities. Other duties may be assigned. 

Requirements

Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline, have at least five years’ full-time experience in tertiary teaching and programme management (leadership experience in a self-financing institution is an advantage), demonstrate a strong research track record, and preferably be a registered social worker with the SWRB. 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for two years. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.

Temporary Marketing Senior Executive Officer/Executive Officer

Duties

The Senior Executive Officer will be part of the Marketing Team, supporting the development and execution of marketing and promotional strategies to strengthen brand presence, improve engagement and reach student recruitment targets. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver integrated marketing campaigns
  • Produce marketing materials and curate content by collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Monitor and evaluate campaign performance, analyze data, and prepare reports with actionable recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, develop content, and provide feedback throughout the website redesign and production process
  • Work closely with IT team and external vendors to ensure timely delivery and quality execution of the website revamp.
  • Manage the student recruitment funnel, including lead generation and tracking, lead trend analysis and lead nurturing through the marketing automation tool
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align lead generation efforts
  • Propose and execute internal and external events, including managing logistics and on-site arrangements
  • Support school outreach activities by delivering admission talks and guiding campus tours
  • Conduct regular and ad hoc surveys to gather market insights
  • Support other initiatives as assigned

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A bachelor’s degree or above in related disciplines and at least 5 years of experience in marketing or student recruitment functions;
  • Proven track record of managing integrated marketing campaigns independently. Knowledge in digital and performance marketing is a plus;
  • Experience in website management. Demonstrated knowledge in website revamp and the use of content management system (CMS) is a plus;
  • Knowledge in managing marketing funnels to generate, track, and nurture leads through each stage of the customer journey;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua), with strong presentation skills.

Requirements

All applicants must hold a Degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience, as well as relevant working experience in one of the following fields:

  1. Business / Vocational English: Applicants should hold a relevant degree^ or a teaching qualification in English Language*; and possess at least three years' (i.e. 36 months) of relevant English language teaching experience.

  2. IELTS (Academic) Preparation: Applicants should hold a relevant degree^ or teaching qualification in English Language*; and possess at least three years' (i.e. 36 months) of relevant English language teaching experience. Possessing a minimum of 36 months of IELTS teaching experience is a must for this IELTS (Academic) Preparation course. Requirements

All applicants must hold a Degree or Master’s degree in a relevant field, with a minimum of three years of teaching experience, along with relevant working experience in one of the following fields:

  • Project Management: Candidates should have a robust background in managing projects, with a preference for those holding certifications in Agile methodologies or CAPM. A minimum of five years of experience in leading teams, executing projects on time and within budget, and a proven track record of achieving project objectives is essential.
  • Online Business and Marketing: Applicants should demonstrate a strong foundation in digital marketing strategies, with at least three years of experience in online business development and collaboration with key opinion leaders in marketing. Experience in developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns is highly desirable.
  • Financial Services: Instructors should possess significant experience in financial planning and analysis, specifically with a focus on preparation for AFP® certification. Candidates should have at least five years of relevant industry experience, including roles in financial consulting or investment management.
  • Blockchain Development: Candidates must have hands-on experience in blockchain applications, including the development and implementation of blockchain solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in this field, along with a strong understanding of smart contracts and decentralized applications, is required.
  • Data Analysis: Applicants should have practical experience in data analytics, including proficiency in analytical tools and techniques that drive business insights. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in data analysis roles, preferably in a business or technology context.
  • Cloud Computing: Candidates should have substantial experience in cloud technologies, including deployment and management of cloud-based solutions. A minimum of three years of experience in cloud architecture or administration is required.
  • Mobile Application Development: Instructors should have a background in developing Android applications, with experience in both foundational and advanced programming techniques. Candidates should have at least three years of relevant development experience, including familiarity with app deployment and user experience design.
  • Professional English Training: Candidates must have experience in teaching business English, including writing, listening, and speaking skills tailored for professional environments. A minimum of three years of teaching experience in an adult education or corporate training setting is essential.
  • Putonghua Language Training: Instructors should have experience in teaching Putonghua, particularly in business communication contexts. Candidates should have at least three years of teaching experience, with a focus on practical language use in professional settings.
  • Arabic Language Training: Instructors will be responsible for teaching both fundamental and service-related language short courses, each comprising 30 contact hours. Applicants must hold a recognised university degree in Languages, Arts, Translation, English, or a closely related discipline, together with demonstrable experience in teaching the Arabic language.
  • Russian Language Training: Instructors will be responsible for teaching both fundamental and service-related language short courses, each comprising 30 contact hours.   • Arboriculture : Candidates must be ISA Certified Arborists with a minimum of two years of experience in the field.
  • Risk Management (AI Applications): Instructors will be responsible for delivering the "Certificate in Risk Management and Decision-Making (AI Applications)" course, which comprises 30 hours of instruction. Applicants must hold a recognised university degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Candidates should also possess a PMI® certification (PMI-PMP® or PMI-RMP®) and have a minimum of five years of professional experience in project risk management. This must include practical, hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence to risk management contexts. 

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary is based on an hourly rate ranging from $450 to $650, depending on the level of the course, number of participants and the qualifications of the instructor. For specialized professional courses that have specific instructor requirements, such as project management, the hourly rate may reach up to $1,000, subject to the instructor's expertise and the course's complexity.

The appointee is expected to provide clerical support to the Faculty Office, perform tasks independently, handle general enquiries and perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Applicants must have Level 2 or above in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language, English Language and Mathematics or 5 passes in HKCEE including Chinese Language, Mathematics and English Language (at least Grade C if syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007) and 2 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, strong initiative, self-motivated, detail-minded, and high proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Excellent command in MS Excel and strong attention to details with good organizational skills are expected. Good understanding of computer applications including MS Word, PowerPoint and Chinese Word Processing is desirable.

Salary and Conditions of Service

Remuneration package will be highly competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will normally be made on fixed-term contract for one year. Fringe benefits include leave, medical and dental schemes.
