UOW recognises the fast pace of development in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry. The Bachelor of Computer Science focuses on the development of high-level programming skills that can be applied across a wide range of applications, including analysis of stock market trends, games design, neural network design, automatic teller machines and patient monitoring in hospitals.

 

This degree includes a core of programming subjects as well as electives in database, languages, artificial intelligence, computer security, computer graphics, operating systems, real-time software and software engineering.

 

The core subjects teach you to understand the structure of data and the role it plays in delivering solutions to complex problems.

Entry requirements

 

Student must have completed a recognised associate degree, higher diploma, diploma or advanced diploma in a related discipline such as Information Systems Development, Network and Systems Administration, Information Technology, and Computer Engineering. The completed qualifications taken for entry need to be pitched at HKQF Level 4 at a minimum.

English language proficiency requirement

  • IELTS Academic – 6.0 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in reading, writing, listening and speaking; or
  • Pearson Academic – 57; or
  • Cambridge Advanced - 52; or
  • TOEFL 79 (internet) or 550 (paper); or
  • Equivalent

 

Remark: Completion of a 2-year tertiary study at an approved institution taught and assessed in English is considered as meeting the English proficiency requirement of the course. The qualification has to be obtained within the previous 2 years.

Programme structure

 

All students are required to complete ten (10) subjects worth six (6) credit points each, plus one (1) worth twelve (12) credit points to be awarded the Bachelor of Computer Science.
